Also known as the village hidden in the solar eclipse got its name from the day the war ended. It was on this day that the Hyuga and Kaguya had fought valiantly against the enemy and despite the hellfire which burned down a great deal of the village they succeeded. It was said that the village fought with such ferocity and gave it all they had that even the sun was blocked out by the arrows fired down upon them. Yet the Hyuga made quick work of it and then in return hailed their own fire of projectiles that in turn blocked out the sun and multiplied.
Few were said to have lived this fight and those who did immediately surrendered. Yet the one thing that all remember was how there were two solar eclipses that day; both man-made. As such it only seemed natural when discussing plans for renaming the village it was brought up. Alongside the story of the war, the figured this name would be the best tale to let float around and scare their enemies and force the hand of those needed in the land.
The village itself, however, is a large traditional one. As are many villages around the land. Most of which have members of the Hyuga or Kaguya clans in them; usually housed in special compounds or palace oriented homes. The clans are both exclusive to the land and as such considered royalty in comparison to others; including fellow god clans. As they feel the purity in their blood is superior to others who got the rare genetics.
The village's main defense system is a simple barrier set up around its borders. It alerts those within the military to know when foreign beings cross into their land and more so their forests. As the entire thing is engulfed in nature it's not as easy to see through the thick brush but it's a lot easier to hide. So most of these shinobi use the land to their advantage using gorilla war fair tactics when entering combat with criminals.
However, the barrier and shinobi aren't the only defense the village has. They also happen to have unique traps laid about the land; which normally serve as a way to hunt for those who do so but also as makeshift traps aimed to catch unsuspecting folks from entering into the more secretive and special locations in the land; usually around the mines which hold a great deal of importance to their economy.
However, as most use the roads to trade and travel upon them they don't fear to injure anyone that sneaks about their land and isn't trained or informed how or where things are. Aside from gold, gems, and shinobi, their economy also tends to thrive upon the labors of war so every so often they will try to expand their borders or see if they can stir up trouble with enemies of their allies.
The main imports of the country, however, are things of rare or exotic nature; usually from kitsunegakure as the two trade a lot, given how close they are and how unique and exotic the object are. In return they trade many necessary commodities that they need for what they can; especially food and drinks as well as shipping things all over or inland to expand their trade.
There are approximately 60,000 members of Nisshokugakure. Of that, about 18,000 are military and the rest are woman and children. There are few elderly due to the way things work; either you work for a living, provide a service or you are shipped off to go live on one of their islands just outside the coast. To live your days with nature drinking coconut juice on a beach on som island.
However for the few who are around, they tend to play roles important to the village such as medics, blacksmiths, restaurant owners, clothing makers. Anything that will benefit the land's trade or their own personal needs. Those outside of the city are often farmers and specialize in free range animals Often producing thousands upon thousands of pounds of meat every year.
